Turgut
Koyu is a small relatively unspoilt farming village that has succumbed
slightly to tourism. There is a Hotel owned by the Tapestry Group in the
Village but because they market their product from the UK you would not
realise it was there. There's always someone around to take you on a boat
trip if you wish to explore. And there are good walks up in the hills
to Roman ruins as well as fantastic views of the village and neighbouring
village Selimiye. There is a good restaurant called the Aphrodite in the
village which has live music & belly dancing some nights to compliment
the excellent food. |

Turgut Village taken from the path up to the Roman ruins. The eucalyptus trees can be seen following the river down the centre. On the right the 'black' square denotes the position of Turgut Koyu which is about 30 minutes SW of Marmaris. A Dolmus (minibus) travels regularly to and from the town. |

The
village is some 10 minutes from the beach, which has a sandy area running
round to a more rocky area with free sunbeds. Swimming is good and safe
and there is a wooden pier for those who like to plunge rather than paddle
in to the water. There are two beach bars and restaurants so that you
are well catered for during the day. |

As
well as these spectacular waterfalls that are within walking distance,
there are the roman tomb and there is a carpet museum/factory where you
can see how the famous Turkish carpets & kilims are made, how the
natural dyes are made and if you wish you can buy your very own to take
home with you, but there's no pressure. For those who prefer, there are
minibuses to these sites. |
